Are you passionate about connecting with your neighbors by sharing your skills?

Generations United seeks to empower the Hispanic community by connecting organizations and individuals with opportunities to support family literacy and family advocacy. They provide individual reading programs for elementary students, dance classes for youth, ESL (English as a Second Language) classes for mothers, and neighborhood affinity groups to connect families across cultural boundaries. Peninsula Literacy Coalition (PLC) is your first stop to see how you can get involved in helping children learn to read in your community. Their mission is to see every child in our community succeed at reading by engaging the community, championing the work of educators and literacy providers, and promoting the use of best practices.

Do you care deeply for the physical health of children in our community?

PE+ along with the Parks and Recreation Community Services Department of Redwood City provide physical education to 12 elementary schools that had cut their PE programs due to budget cuts in Redwood City and Fair Oaks. Find more information here.

Does your heart break for the homeless?

Street Life Ministries is a nonprofit that provides a gathering place where volunteers build relationships with people on the streets through a warm meal, Bible teaching, and friendship. Staff and volunteers aim to guide the homeless into a relationship with Jesus and also assess their real needs and connect them with our local community partners in order that they may live a more fulfilling and self-sufficient life. Support Circle

Do you want to ensure that the unborn have a real chance at life and that mothers have a real choice?

Support Circle focuses on mitigating the negative effects of unintended pregnancies. They offer medical and counseling services for women along with insurance assistance, referrals, and resources for the partners of pregnant women. Volunteer here.
